Green Energy: Germany is a leader in green energy and environmentalism. It has made significant investments in renewable energy sources and aims to be carbon-neutral by 2045.

Today we drive 35 minutes with the 7587 bus, covering a distance of approximately 15 kilometers from Friedrichshafen to the town of Kressbronn, which has a population of 8,000 people, to find the Antonius Chapel.

Small cultural asset on the "Bergle" (small hill)

Around the Antonius Chapel, the Wasserburg area shows its most beautiful side. The hilly landscape with its old orchards, modern low-stem fruit orchards and productive vineyards is a feast for the senses. In spring, you can hike through a wonderfully fragrant sea of white flowers. The view from the chapel, which is located on a hill, is also unique: it stretches over Lake Constance to the peaks of the Alps.

The picturesque Antonius Chapel stands on the "Bergle", a moraine hill typical of Lake Constance. It was first mentioned in 1492 and originally served as a hermitage for hermits, which is why it was dedicated to Saint Anthony. One of the most valuable possessions is a Gothic Madonna. From here you have a wonderful view of the orchard landscape, the mighty Austrian and Swiss mountain backdrop, the nearby Allgäu and the expanse of Lake Constance.

Note: The Antonius Chapel is closed and is only opened for special occasions.

Nestled on the tranquil outskirts of Wasserburg, the Antonius Chapel stands as a beacon of timeless romance, whispering secrets of the past to all who venture near. This quaint sanctuary, ensconced amidst verdant meadows and gentle hills, is like a precious gem set in nature’s embrace. As you approach, the chapel's weathered stone facade, kissed by centuries of sun and rain, tells tales of devotion and love.

The pathway leading to the chapel is adorned with wildflowers, their petals dancing in the soft breeze, casting a delicate fragrance that lingers in the air. Each step brings you closer to a bygone era, where the echoes of heartfelt prayers and hushed vows intertwine with the songs of birds perched in the nearby trees.

Inside, the chapel's intimate space is bathed in a warm, golden light that filters through stained glass windows, depicting saints and angels in a symphony of colors. The wooden pews, worn smooth by countless faithful, invite you to sit and reflect, while the simple altar stands adorned with candles, their flickering flames a testament to enduring faith and love.

The Antonius Chapel is more than a place of worship; it is a haven where time slows, and the heart finds solace. It is a place where lovers can steal a quiet moment, where promises are whispered, and where the soul feels the gentle caress of history and hope. In the hush of this sacred space, the world outside fades away, leaving only the serene beauty of the chapel and the eternal romance it embodies.

In a small vestibule of the Antonius Chapel we found this poster framed in wood and glass:

"Rest in peace"

1939 - 1945

"In honorable remembrance of the fallen and missing from the community of Hege."

We wandered around the nearby forests and orchards before returning to Friedrichshafen in the late afternoon.
