Our own adventure in Germany began with the picturesque countryside, where rolling hills and lush vineyards painted a serene backdrop. The quaint villages dotted with half-timbered houses exuded charm and history at every turn. As we traveled further, the majestic peaks of the Bavarian Alps took our breath away, offering stunning views that seemed straight out of a fairytale.

We flight from Curitiba to São Paulo in one hour, from São Paulo to Zurich in more or less 11 hours. It was a pleasant flight because we flow in the first class. In Zurich we have time enough to get our bagged for the onward journey to Munich. But we will get off in Lindau, 66 km away, because it is closer to Friedrichshafen, our final destination. Only two hours by train, but...

Huaynas Diary:

Oh, the joys of international travel! Here’s a light-hearted take on missing my baggage in Zurich while on our way to Munich:

"Dear Diary,

Today’s travel adventure has reached new heights! Or should I say, new depths of the Zurich Airport's lost baggage department.

It all started with a flight as smooth as Swiss chocolate. We landed in Zurich, ready to hop over to Munich and start our Bavarian escapade. Little did we know, our luggage decided to take its own grand tour of Switzerland.

As we stood at the baggage carousel, anticipation turned into confusion. Bags spun around, none of them ours. It was like watching a luggage fashion show where our outfits never made it to the runway.

We approached the lost baggage counter, hoping for some good news. The staff, as polite as they were, informed us that our bags were enjoying an extended stay in Zurich. It seems they were not ready to leave the Swiss hospitality behind.

On the bright side, we’re now intimately familiar with Zurich's airport. We even considered asking for our mail to be forwarded here. Meanwhile, our bags are probably sipping hot cocoa and admiring the Alps.

With nothing but our carry-ons and a sense of humor, we headed to Friedrichshafen. We figured, who needs fresh clothes when you can enjoy "Kässpätzle" (a traditional dish in southern Germany, made from noodles, cheese and fried onions) and pretzels? Besides, what’s a trip without a quirky story to tell?

So here we are, living our best minimalist lives in Friedrichshafen, eagerly awaiting a reunion with our adventurous luggage. Let’s hope they’ve picked up some great souvenirs for us along the way!

With the mess of missing luggage, we miss our connection with the train to Munich. We change our route and use expensive Swiss francs to buy a train ticket to Romanshorn and from there we take the ferry to Friedrichshafen. From the harbor there it is only a 10-minute walk to our final destination!
