Soundtracks are important to films not only because they provide musical structure to the film, but also because they emotionally connect the audience to the film. Oftentimes, the soundtracks of iconic films are just as memorable, if not more so, than the films themselves.
The four elements of any type of music are melody, harmony, rhythm and timbre.
Composers can use timbre and instrumentation to create the atmosphere the director intended. Timbre, or the richness of tone, is the description of how the music sounds - not what the music conveys, but how the instruments themselves sound individually or in combination.
"In this short video I made a tiny video clip of the "Barigui River". Then I'll show you two scenes. One is the original clip. I changed the other clip a bit: I did a little color correction and gave it an almost imperceptible zoom movement. In the first original clip you see the scene. In the second clip with soundtrack you can merge in the scene. This is just a small preview, so you know what to maybe expect in the future."
Before you start watching the video go to the settings and look for the subtitle in your language. Then enable the subtitles.
And do not forget:
Plug it, listen to it, feel it - Put on your headphones! Watch the video in full screen mode on YouTube!
Do you have a PC/notebook? Use them!
As tools I use a video editor program called DaVinci Resolve (I use the free version. It's a excellent professional program). The FL Studio Producer Edition 21 serves me to create the background music.
Both programs are very complex. I think I'm using about 30% of their potential so far.
Now, as an wannaby audiovisual artist, I'm in the process of creating a cult video about Curitiba's city parks. Below are just a few "thoughts". But that will and must be change a lot.
Watch the video on YouTube in large format on your PC or notebook.
The first scene is the same as in the video above, only the music has been changed.
