Named the Caiçara Train, it currently has a locomotive from 1884, manufactured in Philadelphia, in the United States. It is the oldest steam locomotive still in regular operation in Brazil! And the most interesting: it was the first locomotive purchased for the Paranaguá – Curitiba railroad and was in operation until 1950! Generations have riden it and today we can relive these times!
The section between Morretes and Antonina was opened in 1892 and is called Ferrovia Dona Isabel. The railway stations of Antonina and Morretes have recently been restored and mainly the Antonina station is very charming!
The route is 16 kilometers long and takes about 50 to 60 minutes.. Maria Fumaça passes through the middle of the Atlantic Forest, crossing rivers and the mangrove area.
Passenger cars are from the 1930s and have wooden benches. An opportunity to get to know how our ancestors traveled by train! Don’t expect comfort – it’s a trip to the past, packed with the slow pace of the train.
Arriving in Morretes, soon after there is the boarding of a bus or van to return. If you prefer, you can stay there and travel on your own later.
"Kraftwerk" is the name of my electronic track, which makes part of the "Deutsche Welle" (German Wave).
