THE HIDDEN BEAUTY

The pics below I made in the cities of Morretes, Antonina and Paranaguá and the sourroundings. This photos I made on short visits in this region.

Guaraqueçaba Environmental Protection Area (Portuguese: Área de Proteção Ambiental de Guaraqueçaba) is a protected area in the State of Paraná, Brazil. It includes Atlantic Forest, mangrove, salt marsh and estuarine environments in an area with a relatively low human population.

The protected area, which covers 282,444 hectares (697,930 acres) of coastal marine environment, was established on 31 January 1985.

Guaraqueçaba is a Tupi-Guarani word that means "Place of the Guará (Maned wolf)". The word is formed by the combination of "agwa'rá" (guará), "ker" (to sleep) and "aba" (place).

Guaraqueçaba is also the name of a municipality in the state of Paraná, Brazil. It is one of the few coastal municipalities in the state and is located in the eastern region of Paraná.

The Guaraqueçaba region is known for being a treasure of Paraná, for being one of the most preserved areas of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil. It is also a historical landmark, as it was one of the first occupations of Paraná by Portuguese colonizers, around 1545.

The Guaraqueçaba region is surrounded by islands, deserted beaches, endangered animals, waterfalls and history.

At the very bottom you will also find a link (more) that leads to the actual Hidden Beauty Project.
